Lawrence embraces 'marked man' distinction

 Razorback wide receiver/running back/return specialist Mike Lawrence doesn´t shy away from the spotlight. Much rather, he basks in the spotlight.
The second year Razorback who formerly starred in the Big 12 football conference at Kansas State University has put together some numbers that make opposing coaches heads spin.
Some of his accolades include: capturing the GFL scoring title with 176 points with 28 touchdowns and 4 two point conversions; catching 60 passes for 1062 receiving yards; and rushing the football for 698 yards on 84 carries for 8.4 yards per carry average.
"I just do what the coaches ask me to do. I just want to do my part and be a part of the team. All I want to do is take advantages of the opportunities when I get them. If our opponents try to put more emphasis on stopping me, that´s fine, but it may be a mistake. We have a lot of other guys who can hurt them equally as well." stated Lawrence.
In 2003, Lawrence has done moe than his part in helping his offensive unit set a new European total offense mark at 5788 yards, eclipsing the old record set by the 2001 Razorbacks at 5599. The 2003 Hogs accomplished that feat in 12 games, one less than the 2001 edition. He also led a scoring parade that saw the Razorbacks top the 500 point mark for the season at 517 points, to lead the GFL in scoring.
"Mike has taken a leadership role in the team. He has worked hard and done everything he´s been asked to do. He really doesn´t see himself as anything more than a piece of the puzzle, but he knows that he is the player that every opposing team has their eyes on." stated Razorback Head Football Coach Mike Wyatt.
The Lawrence-led Razorbacks will host the Dresden Monarchs on Saturday, September 20 in a quarterfinal showdown at Stadion am Sommerdamm in Rüsselsheim at 16:00. The Razorbacks are hoping to advance in the playoffs for the first time since coming into the GFL in 1996.
